This is one essential that you’ll never get tired of, so stock up on if you are missing any of these.

No matter what your personal style and body type, denim should always be your closet staple. Instead of following trends it would be prudent to know what shape flatters you most and what suits your body type. However the best types of jeans aren’t always contingent on shape but on how they make you feel and how often you reach for them in your day to day lifestyle.

Here are the basic must haves that will give your wardrobe maximum outfit possibilities without compromising on comfort and style

Flared Jeans

These are considered retro, however the new trendy and polished designs offer styles you can wear on the weekend and even to the office without looking casual. For someone who prefers a more elegant style, look for silhouettes with minimal flare and a pressed crease line to evoke a more defined appearance. Alternatively, try a pair with a washed-out effect for the more casual dresser or vintage aesthetic look.

Straight-Leg Jeans

These are one of the most timeless denim silhouettes. Their soft structuring acts as a foundation you can easily dress up or down. While there are many trendy styles on the market that include ankle slits and distressed details, don’t underestimate the power of a simple style. These are great for an elevated look that isn’t too flashy, while perfect for an off-duty style.

High-Waisted Jeans

Most jeans these days feature a high waist, but that doesn’t mean you should settle for just any old pair. Look for styles with a composition of elastane and cotton to ensure all-day comfort, yet they will still retain comfort for years. Also, opt for minimal hardware, like studs and buttons, so they can be easily styled and you feel comfortable in them.

Skinny Jeans

Gen Z could be arguing that skinny jeans are no longer trendy, but we say otherwise. A good pair of skinny jeans is a great way to create a cohesive finish within your look—especially when paired with jackets and boots. The key is to invest in a style that hugs your legs but can still be layered under and over different shoes. Color is important as well. If you prefer darker tones, opt for a black pair that can work as a more elevated version as well.

Wide-Leg Jeans

Among a few of the 90s trends that have resurfaced recently, loose-fitting denim is one of our favorites especially for its comfort. The secret to sporting baggy jeans without looking disheveled lies in the styling. Style wide-leg jeans as though they were a straight-legged pair and style them in accordance with the vibe you want to achieve. The less attention you pay to the generous cut, the more intentional it will look.

Black Jeans

Surveys indicate that the pants offer a chic look to any outfit. It is a go-to denim colour to elevate a basic, casual look to a more sophisticated and polished smart casual outfit. When in doubt, wear a black denim with your most flattering top.

White Jeans

Few denim colors are as versatile as white and pulling them off is deceptively simple. Opt for silhouettes you feel most comfortable with to get the most wear out of them. Make sure you go for a machine-wash-friendly pair so you don’t find yourself at the dry cleaners every other week come summer.
